Wilmington Railroad Museum, Wilmington

Whether or not you are a train enthusiast, this museum is worth visiting. Adult entry was $10 when we went. It is fairly small, and you could see the whole thing in 2 minutes if you wanted to, but we spent almost an hour and a half reading through all the history blurbs paired with artifacts, watching videos, engaging with the model trains, and climbing on the caboose. They have a well appointed gift shop right up front featuring some model trains for purchase. We had a great time, but we also saw young children and folks twice our age there, so it truly was an experience the whole family could enjoy.

Really amazing little railway museum. Wonderfully interactive, large model train layout. My 9 and 3 year old loved the visit and neither wanted to leave. Highly recommend stop in Wilmington. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Great small museum showcasing Wilmington's Railroad past. Kids will get a kick out of the model trains and play area. You can checkout the old steam engine locomotive and coal car and a caboose. The box car was inaccessible when we visited. Great mock-ups of the Interiors of train stations and offices.

Make the time to go to this historic site if you can. Fun and educational. You will see the passion of those that have contributed to and volunteer at this museum. Lots of great artifacts and education about railway travel in the U.S. The enthusiasts that created the EXTREMELY large scale model train (interactive) also hold the Guinness world record for largest electric model train railway built.

Very nice museum dedicated to the Railroads. Outstanding model train layout that takes you back to being a kid again. Worth a visit.
