What is commonly known today as Pikes Peak was originally named "Shining Mountain" by the Ute Native Americans because of how brightly the sun reflected off of the snow. Minutes from the idyllic town of Woodland Park, Colorado; Shining Mountain is sure to be considered a jewel in the Rocky Mountain state. Woodland Park is nestled among the pines of the Pike National Forest and with over 300 days of sunshine, we enjoy comfortable summers and mild winters. Located at nearly 8500 feet above sea level, this is why we are called "The City Above the Clouds".Plan to visit Shining Mountain Golf Course during your Woodland Park vacation using our convenient Woodland Park road trip site.
The course is 6,478 yards from the championship tees with a par of 70. The course rating is 71.6 and has a slope rating of 136 on bluegrass. The seasons here are mild and the views spectacular, which makes this a must play for your golfing pleasure.

Tough, challenging course! Great mountain views and very friendly staff. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because EVERY HOLE is cart path only so makes for a longer round of golf. So bring your walking shoes, you will get your steps in! Aside from that, you will be challenged on this puppy (no dogs were hurt during this round of golf..). I lost several sleeves during my two days and two rounds. My advice, go early and grab a bucket of range balls, and when you are done warming up, use the range balls to play your round. People lose SO MANY GOLF BALLS playing this course, they have the BEST selection of range balls I have ever seen! So use them and keep your ProV's tucked away! This one was very challenging but well worth it.

One of the worst courses I’ve ever played. It’s clear that there is no money put into ANYTHING out here. Zero course maintenance and horrible cart paths. Missing grass on every green, no difference between the grass in the rough and the fairway. Beautiful area but just a bad golf course. Some fairways are 10 yards wide… that is not real golf. And charging $60 is absolute robbery. Will not be back.
-
Challenging course along the mountainside. I’ll take the cart-path only if it keeps the fairways this nice. Beware, some of the fairways are about ten yards wide in places.
-
Great golf course very challenging need to play fairway golf. They have a beverage cart with beer, great food at the bar and grill. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I will play there again
-
Golf course was in great condition but since they got alot of rain the night before the cart paths had alot of water. Challenging holes and very scenic views. Blue skies and comfortable temps. Will definitely come back again!
