  • I climbed the Bunsen Peak Trail on a fall day. The round trip is only about 4.5 miles, but most of that distance is slopes and switchbacks totally 1300 feet of elevation gain. This was the largest...

  • Nice views from the top, quite a climb. This is a scenic spot and gives a 360 degree vantage of the countryside.

  • Trailhead a couple miles south of Mammoth. Limited parking. Trail itself, only 2.1 miles, was fairly steep and rocky in places. Suggest good hiking shoes/boots, water, trekking poles, and bear spray.....  more

  • This was my very first hike and it was actually really cool. A bit more difficult than moderate with some steep and loose terrain but a wonderful, rewarding climb
  • Fun hike in Yellowstone. Easy to follow, not too steep and great views at the top and along the way.
  • Views are amazing from the peak. There is a cell phone / radio tower at the top.
  • This is one of the most frequent hikes that I recommend to visitors. While there is some elevation gain, the word "peak" can be deceiving in that most of the trail is switchbacks. Additionally, the trail is well-traveled and thus ideal for families. The views of both Swan Lake Flat to the south and Mammoth, Gardiner, and Jardine to the north are definitely worth the climb. Overall, this is a great easy to medium difficulty destination hike that is not far into the park.
  • Beautiful trail in Mammoth~~
