Create an itinerary including Mount Washburn
Hike to the peak of Mount Washburn, which reaches a height of 3,000 m (10,000 ft) above sea level. You may try your hiking skills by two different routes, keeping in mind that both have strenuous rating. Both are also roundtrip, one 9 km (6 mi), the other 8 km (5 mi) long. Elevation gain is about 425 m (1,300 ft) for both. For most hikers, Dunraven Pass route may be the better option, as it is considered the more scenic one. Start early before it gets too hot. It may take you about half a day to complete the route, so plan accordingly. • Loved this walk, absolutely stunning views, just loved every minute of it. Nice easy path, very doable if of moderate fitness, really not as hard as we expected and a visitor type centre at the top...

  • This is a very scenic hike, however it's on an old road so there is not a lot of variation in the actual hiking. Just a long uphill walk for 2 hours. Big views everywhere you look however as you...

  • Tower Rd. is closed for construction most of 2021. Sadly, you cannot access either of the Mount Washburn trailheads this year.

  • Worth to go~~~ Easy hike with a big trail
  • Words cannot explain how beautiful and rewarding this hike is! Definitely recommend it! If you’re not an experienced biker, just pace yourself! It’s very worth the 6 miles.
  • This is a beautiful spot and the hike was well worth it. The view is absolutely amazing. We saw mountain goats on the way up the trail. It's something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
  • Went hiking Mt Washburn via Dunraven Pass the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. The trail was entirely void of people. We saw one bear on our way up but it kept its distance. There's a communications station on top of the peak, which you can get inside, but it closes at 6, so we missed it. Were able to catch a nice sunset on our way down. Canyon Campground is like a 10-minute drive away, so was pretty convenient. The hike was 7 miles roundtrip with around 1400 ft elevation gain, so pretty easy. Trail is wide and easy to follow.
  • Such a great hike. Would recommend going up the service road rather than the switchbacks, switchbacks are more difficult. View is definitely worth it, there will be snow on the trail until end of June so bring shoes good with the snow if you go before. Would plan about 3-5 hours, depending on how avid of a hiker you are and how much time you want to spend taking pictures at the top. One of the best trails for wildflowers, and keep an eye out for bighorn sheep!
