The biggest grove of giant sequoias in Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Grove is home to two of the biggest sequoias in the world. The Grizzly Giant is thought to be 1,800 years old. Your best is to hike to the grove, which also features the California Tunnel Tree that you can walk through. You can park at the entrance to the grove, or take a one-hour tram tour that operates seasonally. Visit the National Park Service's website for updates on temporary closures that periodically occur. Easily accessible giant sequoia trees near the southern entrance of Yosemite valley. Plenty of beautiful trees and easy hiking trails. There are two main parking areas one near the highway and the other one just next to the giant trees.

Picked a perfect day to go ... ended up hiking the Mariposa Grove trail. It was an amazing adventure and the view at the top was worth the long hike.

Our group of 4 (ages 13, 16, 48, 48) had an excellent experience today. We hiked the 2 miles from the welcome center to the shuttle stop via the footpath (easy-moderate) at the end of the parking lot. Then we hiked the loop as indicated on the AllTrails app, minus the 1/2 mile to Wawona Point (it’s still a little snowy). The weather was perfect (60F in the sun, slight breeze, clear). There’s some patchy snow at higher elevations but very compacted (most of us had trail shoes, only one with boots). We shed layers as the day went on. We didn’t see many hikers past the Grizzly Tree. None of the upper restrooms are open, nor is water available unless you want to use natural sources. We returned via the shuttle road which is very easy and offers nice views which the footpath does not. Round trip including lunch was about 4-5 hrs and 9.5 miles. There’s probably been significant snow melt in the past week after reading other reviews.

Easily accessible to grizzly giant. Hiking for 15 minutes to see beautiful sequoia. Make sure the road is open on official website. It’s well worth putting on the travel list because it's so close to the Yosemite.

Awesome experience hiking among Giant Sequoias! Worth the time to visit this area in Yosemite NP! A whole different experience from Yosemite Valley - lovely drive there also from Mariposa and Oakhurst!
