Stambaugh Auditorium opened in 1926 through the generosity of Henry H. Stambaugh, one of the city's leading businessmen in the early 20th century. Mr. Stambaugh decreed in his Will that there was to be a venue built for the entertainment, enjoyment and education of Youngstown and surrounding communities. The centerpiece of the complex is the Concert Hall, which can accommodate a crowd of 2,553. The venue also features the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom, the Anne K. Christman Memorial Hall, and a Formal Garden at the southern end of the building, all of which can be rented for private functions.
Beyond performances, Stambaugh Auditorium is home to multiple spaces which host a variety of events. Business events and seminars have become increasingly popular in recent times, in addition to a variety of non-profit fundraising events. Rehearsals and weddings at Stambaugh remain a staple at the facility, accommodating many eager brides using the building's beautiful architecture as a backdrop for their formal photos. Local high schools and some colleges use the auditorium each year to make their graduations memorable, and dance competitions from across the country take advantage of Stambaugh's facilities.
The Concert Hall houses the recently restored E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ, offering local and national organists an opportunity to play on a spectacular, historically accurate instrument. Many Stambaugh events are offered at reasonable ticket rates and, at times, no cost at all, as to reflect the mission statement outlined by Henry H. Stambaugh's will 89 years ago. All of these spaces generate the necessary revenue to keep Stambaugh functioning on a daily basis.

I grew up performing in this auditorium as a student at the Dana School of Music. A lucky experience and much better than other halls used by universities.

I had my ceremony and reception done at Stambaugh Auditorium and had an amazing experience. I primarily worked with the event coordinator, Shannon Burns, who is fantastic! Shannon helped me organize the wedding every step of the way. She was very professional, patient, and accommodating. She took every request I made into consideration and provided me with her own ideas and expertise as well. Both the ceremony and reception were done upstairs in Christman Hall. The hall was beautiful and Stambaugh itself looked amazing with all of the holiday decor/decorations throughout the building. Everyone we worked with were so professional and helpful. The venue itself was actually a decent price, however, be mindful that you do have to book one of their approved separate caterers which adds more to the cost, especially if you are trying to stick to a budget. All in all, the experience was great and I highly recommend booking Stambaugh Auditorium for a special event!

I went with some friends to see the silent movie Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with someone playing the organ. At the beginning, he told us about the organ and about the music of the time. He only had a sheet with excerpts of music from that time and told us he was basically going to wing it using those bits of music. It was awesome! I’d love to go back and see other shows they have here at the auditorium!

We went there for a 40's era big band performance. They were the Glenn Miller Band of today, and they were excellent! The band leader also sang, and they had a "girl" singer who literally floated on the stage and was perfect!

Veterans dinner followed by a performance of the Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus. Food was very good. The band was a real musical treat. The chorus reflected their Grammy winning abilities.

Stambaugh was beautiful and well kept. The opera was very good. The lead man, rodolfo, had the best voice I remember hearing for a long, long time. Everyone sang well. Every one did a good job acting, especially rodolfo and musette. The settings were good for setting the mood. It looked like paris in 1830. The orchestra did a great job. I plan to return and to tell others.
