Create an itinerary including Gonarezhou National Park
Explore the pristine landscapes of bushveld, sandstone cliffs, and wide trunked baobabs at Gonarezhou National Park, the country's second-largest game reserve. The site also serves as the historical habitat of the Cape wild dog, although the last time this endangered species has been spotted in this area was in 2010. The park is also home to the largest tusked elephants. One local story tells that witchdoctors used tusks to store their medicinal herbs, hence the name--"gona," meaning elephant tusk. The park's rugged terrain places it off the beaten tourist path, while its natural oases formed by three rivers draw hundreds of bird species and diverse wildlife to its watering holes.
