Best things to do in Jervis Bay

Hyams Beach is one of the most popular of the myriad bays and beaches inside the Jervis Bay area. Facing east and looking directly at Point Perpendicular, Hyams rarely receives any swell other than a gentle shore break in a north-easter, making it a safe family beach. Like all beaches in the bay, it is unpatrolled. At the north end of the wide two kilometre shoreline is a rock platform with its own sandy beach - and a top snorkelling spot. Hyams Beach village is often parked out in busy periods so they recommend making a day of it by parking at Greenfield Beach and taking the White Sands Walk to Hyams.

White Sands Walk starts at a boardwalk on Greenfields Beach, just south of Vincentia, crosses a creek and winds south along the bay. Interpretive signs along the track point out significant features of the bay. The walk ends at the small village of Hyams Beach. At the end of the walk, you can either return the same way or make this into a circuit walk by taking the Scribbly Gum Track back to Greenfields Beach.

Red pandas, snow leopards, and Bengal tigers make their home at Mogo Wildlife Park, the only zoo in Australia with white lions. From easy-to-follow pathways, view exotic and endangered species. Roam the small-reptile house, a large African savanna, and islands with primates such as red-handed tamarin. For a more interactive experience, feed the deer or giraffes.
