Where to stay in Joao Pessoa

As you'd expect, most of the accommodations in Joao Pessoa crowd around the eastern coastline, jostling for the best position to catch a glimpse of the morning sun. Of these areas, the beach neighborhoods of Cabo Branco Tambaú and Manaíra offer by far the best range of places to stay. In pleasant contrast to many of Brazil's other coastal cities, a restriction on high-rise buildings along the shorefront has helped the city retain its laid-back, natural feel. Consequently, most hotels are housed in smaller, unobtrusive buildings. You won't find a huge range of budget accommodations in the city, but if visiting in low season (March to November), you can bargain for as much as 40 percent off the regular price.
