Jasper station is on the Canadian National Railway mainline in Jasper, Alberta. The station is served by Via Rail's The Canadian and is the eastern terminus for the Via Rail's Jasper – Prince Rupert train. The Rocky Mountaineer company trains such as the Journey through the Clouds use the station as a terminus, these trains continue to Quesnel railway station.

Friends of Jasper National Park offers educational programs, historical walking tours, and guided hikes under full moon. You can join many of the programs, such as bird-watching hikes, free of charge, just by picking up your ticket at the shop in the visitors center. On historical walks, you will find out more about the first settlers and the way the town grew with its people. Nature lovers will enjoy gazing at the stars and learning about nocturnal animals on a moonlight walk.

Feel the power of nature at Athabasca Falls, a ferocious combination of sound and water with a picturesque mountain for its backdrop. An emblem of one of Canada's major national parks, the cascade is less known for its height than its force. Just 23 m (75 ft) high, the falls produce a heavy flow that cuts deeply into the surrounding limestone rocks, carving out deep channels and potholes. A series of interpretative signs explain their significance to the local ecosystems. Prepare for the short but rugged hike by wearing shoes suitable for slippery terrain.
