Best things to do in Maule Region

Enjoy the picturesque views of the Chilean coastline at Piedra de la Iglesia. Find nine different rock formations standing several tens of meters tall, which have been naturally carved out from erosion of the sea. Visit the Church of Stone, one of the most prominent natural landmarks of the area. The tall, white and grey rock formation rests just off the shoreline of the beach. Bask in the sun on the volcanic black sand or take a dip in the South Pacific Ocean, though be careful as the waters can be quite rough.

Get in touch with nature at Parque Nacional Radal Siete Tazas, a lush reserve with many waterfalls and rich wildlife. Hiking is arguably the best way to discover the area, best known for its "Seven Cups," or seven consecutive waterfalls. Go kayaking on the Claro River, try horseback riding, or visit the two larger waterfalls, the whimsically named "Bride's Veil" and the "Leap of the Lioness."

Make your way to Lago Colbun, Chile's largest artificial lake. Featuring clear and calm blue water, the lake offers popular water sports such as kayaking and wind surfing. Surrounded by mountains and plenty of flat green areas, this is a great spot for picnics. Head to the local restaurant and take in views of the surrounding area while enjoying some fine cuisine.
