3. Yllas Ski Resort, Lapland

Yllas Ski Resort offers a range of varied, comparatively short, and not overly difficult ski runs excellent for families or skilled skiers. The village side of the resort with a few small hotels and cabins nestled in a snowy forest has a quiet atmosphere, while the side over the fell is much busier with plenty of activities. Moguls, not steep slopes, are what characterize the black runs. The resort is newer too crowded, so you won"t have to worry about getting in anyone's way.

6. Lapland Hotels SnowVillage, Kittila

Visit a winter wonderland at Lapland Hotels SnowVillage--an entire village made of snow and ice that is constructed anew every winter. A hotel, restaurant, cocktail bar, and a chapel are mainstays of the design and make up the bulk of the village. Long snow corridors lined with ice sculptures connect the rooms of the hotel, which are individually created by artists and include bed frames carved out of ice. If you prefer more traditional lodging, rent a log cabin. Ongoing activities include husky dogsled rides, viewing the site's domesticated reindeer, and snowmobile rental, which allows you to explore the snowy region inside the Arctic Circle. You can also visit for the day and tour the snow structures after paying an entrance fee. The easiest way to reach the village is by arranging a taxi pick-up from the nearby Kittilä airport or the Kolari train station. Alternatively, rent a car and follow the detailed driving directions on the attraction's website.
