A beautiful port town in southeastern France, Citadelle de Saint-Tropez - Musee d'histoire maritime is a former military base, where the main source of income was fishing. This fishing village was liberated from the Second World War early in the twentieth century, following which it became an international resort by the sea. Artists from the French New Wave started rushing into this magnificent town as a result of its rich history and spectacular view. It later became a resort for the European and American jet set and a goal for tourists in search of a little Provençal authenticity and an occasional celebrity sighting.

The marina at St. Tropez Harbor can accommodate up to 1,050 vessels (though only 100 of the berths are for visitors), and offers visitors incredible architecture, lovely parks, and excellent museums.

Trek along the rustic Mediterranean scenery at Massif de l'Esterel, a protected mountain range spanning the French Riviera. The sight of these craggy porphyry cliffs fringed by dark vegetation and rising above an azure sea has inspired many writers and painters. Rugged terrain with deep ravines and old cork oak forests provide shelter to red deer, foxes, and wild boars. A national forest extends for 130 sq km (50 sq mi), crisscrossed with hiking and mountain biking trails featuring maritime and stone pines and strawberry trees. Enjoy the sound of cicadas and inhale the scents of rosemary, thyme, and lavender.

Architect Francois Spoerry designed Port Grimaud in the mid-20th century. The French fisherman-style houses resemble those in Saint Tropez.
