President Bill Clinton and professional golfer Tom Watson have played Ballybunion Golf Club, one of the best link courses in the world. Though its location in southeastern Ireland makes it a difficult course to get to, many think the natural beauty of this golf destination makes the trip worth it. This historic club was founded in 1893 and offers two courses, the Old Course and Cashen Course. The Old Course was home to the Irish Open of the 2000 European Tour. You can book a day to play on one or both of these two famous courses.

3. Foynes Flying Boat Museum, Foynes

At Foynes Flying Boat Museum, the station where Irish coffee debuted, view a detailed history of transatlantic flight. As the last port of call on the eastern shore for seaplanes, Foynes was the biggest civilian airport on the continent during World War II. This aviation and maritime station was famous for the invention of Irish coffee, which was prepared in the 1930s and 1940s to comfort cold passengers. After closing in 1946, the village and port weren't an important aviation site again until 1988, when a portion of the old station was leased by this museum.
