Walk across the planks of a 17 m (55 ft) high suspension bridge on a nature trail through a pristine forest to see Hiji Waterfall, an impressive 26 m (85 ft) high waterfall nestled in greenery. Observe colorful robins, lizards, turtles, butterflies, and small snakes in this jungle-like setting on the winding 3.3 km (2 mi) hike. Admire the magnificent vegetation surrounding you as you follow a stream with cascading rapids, ending in a pond beneath the falls. The other trails range in length up to 1.1 km (0.6 mi), and take you across the strange rock formations and to viewing points high above the coast--expect some modest climbing. Wear sturdy shoes and bring along some water. A cafe and facilities at the trailhead let you rest and refresh after exploring this evocative landscape.

The northernmost tip of Okinawa Island, Cape Hedo combines far-reaching ocean views and a rocky coastline. Walk along lush green trails that hug the cliffs' edge, gazing over clear blue water crashing against the rocks. Drop a coin in one of the many boxes to pay tribute to the gods of sea and wind, and look for the white stone sculpture of a mythical creature with the body of a fish and the head of a bird. If you're itching to get into the water, you'll find plenty of good spots for snorkeling and scuba diving.

From the comfort of reclining chairs that line the sand, watch as the sun reflects from ripples of crystal clean water, which provides a high level of visibility for snorkeling and scuba diving.
