We meet at the Rosenkrantz Tower inside the Bergen fortress. NOTE - we walk up-hill on cobblestone. This tour requires a moderate fitness. If you don't think you'll be able to walk up-hill, I recommend booking our private tour. This small-group walking tour combines history, culture and everyday life as we walk through both the most famous attractions of Bergen and the off-the-beaten path parts of the city. We will discuss not just the fascinating history of Bergen, but also what it's like to live in Bergen today - including everyday life, housing, work, education and anything you wish to ask. We'll explore the issues currently facing Bergen today, but also what makes Bergen a special place to live.We will walk through historical locations past picturesque houses, churches, hills and parks. You'll get an idea of museums, restaurants and shops that you can explore on your own. Group size: 14

Where to stay in Bergen

As a major Norwegian city, Bergen offers accommodations--and just about everything else--at a high price. Try to stay in the picturesque Bryggen wharf area near the fish market, or in the city center. If you’re looking for lively nightlife, check out rooms close to the city’s university. To find less-expensive lodging, search for hostels in the city center and campsites just out of town. Alternatively, live like a local by staying in a small guesthouse.
