Home to the majestic mountain gorilla, Volcanoes National Park encompasses a dramatic landscape of wildlife, rainforest, and active and extinct volcanoes. Hike up the mountainous terrain of Karisoke Research Center - Dian Fossey Camp to see the resting place of the researcher who started it. Walk through the various forests and keep an eye out for possible animal sightings. Visit the research center and learn about the endangered mountain gorillas and their habitat. The national park encompassing the center also plays home to other animals, including hyenas, monkeys, and elephants. Come well equipped for the trek, especially on a rainy day.
