Discover the Basque region that surrounds Bilbao called Biscay ( Bizkaia in Basque language) during a full-day trip from San Sebastian. Fall in love with the charming 10th century hermitage of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and climb its 241 stairs to get to the top and enjoy its magnificent views. Then head to Bilbao (the financial capital of the Basque Country) and get a glimpse of the architectural and traditional beauties of this wonderful city, including Guggenheim Museum (entrance ticket included). All this in one day, and with the convenience of private transportation (pick up and drop off at your hotel) & lunch included in the tour price! ** Due to limited capacity, climbing the 241 stairs to the Gaztelugatxe hermitage is not guaranteed. Instead, you would first visit the town on the Biscayan coast Mundaka, known worldwide for its waves and fishing tradition, and then a stop would be made to enjoy a panoramic view of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe from the viewpoint.

Follow the highway towards the east, into the province of Gipuzkoa. On the way to the Sanctuary of Loyola, you will be able to admire the areas of inner Basque Country, combined with rural valleys and industrial villages trapped in between mountains like the villages of Durango, Eibar and Elgoibar.

Follow the river road of Bilbao towards the coast and admire the old industrial areas that once powered Bilbao. You will enjoy the Transporter Bridge of Bizkaia, the oldest bridge of this type in the world, still active and a very much loved icon for the locals. Continue to go to the coast to enjoy the views of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe from a viewpoint (stop of approx. 10 minutes). Later, arrive in Bermeo to make a walking tour around its highlights. Finally, we will visit the Assembly House of Gernika and return direct to Bilbao.
