Hike to the top of Mount Scenery, a dormant volcano that represents the highest point of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The volcano island features many different types of vegetation--the upper slopes include a rain and cloud forest covered in epiphytes, orchids, and many other unique and rare plants. Dive in the protected and diversely inhabited waters of Saba National Marine Park, a 5 sq mi (13 sq km) designated diving zone, consisting of around 20 dive sites. The island had the foresight to protect these waters in 1987, giving them the chance to thrive. This being the case, you cannot dive unaccompanied here, but you'll find plenty of well established dive shops on the island to fulfill this need.

Experience natures cliffside as you explore the shores of Ladder Bay. Climb up several hundred steep stairs to the former Customs house, which served as the only port in the island. Although physically intense with twists and turns, the hike rewards those who persevere with views of the bay, sailing boats, and the rock-ribbed landscape. The water carries all the exotic and bright colored plants and animals of the seaworld into this area. Check with a tour guide before going to the tidal pools, as they only form at certain times of day.

Enclosed by towering trees and exotic plants, Harry L. Johnson Museum reminds visitors of its origins of a modest sea captain's cottage. Filled with displays of the local Saba community, the museum showcases items from the late 1800s. Main features include a massive mahogany four-poster bed with pineapple carvings, hand-made and improvised instruments, and artifacts from numerous archeological excavations. Ideally situated for some secluded snorkeling, swimming, and unwinding, Well's Bay is a rocky bay at the bottom of some very dramatic cliffs. You can reach the beach using a natural trail leading down from the top of the cliffs, but if you prefer to save your strength for swimming, visit as part of a boat tour. Once there, look out for sea turtles and colorful schools of fish.

Surrounded by cliffs and green hills, Cove Bay attracts visitors with its scenery and warm, clear sea. The calm waters make it a destination for swimming, while the diverse tropical seascape draws divers. The views here include sharp ridges, deep blue sea, and grey pebbled rocks. Slow paced and still undiscovered by mass tourism, the capital of Saba attracts those seeking to get away from the bustle of everyday life.
