Hawaii Volcanoes National Park provides two drive-in campgrounds: Nāmakanipaio and Kulanaokuaiki. The former is on the main road near the park's entrance and offers full services. The latter sits more deeply in the park, has limited sites, and does not have drinking water. You can also stake your tent at one of the primitive campsites on the park's coastal hiking trails. The park does offer lodging in the Volcano House, which delivers sweeping vistas of the caldera at the top of Mount Kilauea. The aptly named town of Volcano at the park's main entrance has a bevy of accommodations, including cottages, inns, bed and breakfasts, and lodges. This is your best option for combining convenient access to the park with a comfortable place to lay your head.
