6. Boomtown Casino Biloxi

Howdy, I'm Warren, from Boomtown Biloxi, the Gulf Coast’s friendliest casino. I like slots, tables, rodeos, good eats & nice people.

Here at Boomtown Biloxi, we just want you to have a good ol’ time. And I’m here to make sure that happens – often. I’m not gonna feed you any bull. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Boomtown is nestled on Back Bay Biloxi and just a hop, skip and a jump from the Gulf. And if you ask me, this place has got more Southern hospitality than any other casino on the coast.

So take the bull by the horns (I won’t bite) and catch some winning thrills from 1,100 of the hottest slots and video games. Pennies, nickels, dollar slots, $5 games – you name it, it’s a safe bet that you’ll find it here. And if table games are more your thing, your seat is waiting at the friendliest tables around.

Every day’s a rodeo at Boomtown Biloxi. Giddy up!

7. Biloxi Lighthouse

The Biloxi Lighthouse was erected in 1848 and was one of the first cast-iron lighthouses in the South. It is the city’s signature landmark and has become a post-Katrina symbol of the city’s resolve and resilience.

The light was civilian operated from 1848 to 1939, and is notable for its several female lightkeepers, including Maria Younghans, who tended the light for 53 years. In 1939, the U.S. Coast Guard assumed responsibility for the light’s operation.

After being declared surplus property in 1968, the Biloxi Lighthouse was deeded to the City of Biloxi, which eventually opened it to public tours.

The lighthouse has withstood many storms over the years. Katrina’s storm surge enveloped a third of the 64-foot tall lighthouse, and the constant pounding from the water and winds toppled many bricks that lined the interior of the cast iron tower. The storm’s winds also broke many of the windows in the light cupola and destroyed the structure’s electrical system

In March 2010, the city re-opened the lighthouse to public tours after a 14-month, $400,000 restoration that was funded by FEMA and MEMA and completed by Biloxi contractor J.O. Collins.

Tours are offered daily(weather permitting) at 9.00 a.m., 9:15 a.m., and 9:30 p.m.

9. Biloxi Bay Bridge

The Biloxi Bay Bridge is a bridge in the U.S. state of Mississippi which carries U.S. Route 90 (US 90) over Biloxi Bay between Biloxi and Ocean Springs. Though the bridge's ballast and accompanying railroad track was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, the structure remained and subsequently underwent major repairs. It reopened to traffic on November 1, 2007. The span carries 6 lanes of traffic as well as a 12ft path for pedestrians and bicyclists on the Gulf side of the bridge.
After the bridge's destruction from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the MDOT tasked the reconstruction of the bridge to GC Constructors and its subcontractor Parsons for $339 million. Terms of the contract included that the bridge must have 1 lane of traffic in each direction open within 18 months, and all construction completed within 22 months. Construction was completed ahead of schedule, at 20 months. The new bridge is 129 feet wide, with 3 lanes of traffic in each direction, as well as a 12 ft pedestrian & cyclist path on the south facing side of the bridge. The new bridge is designed to withstand hurricane-force winds and waves similar to those of Katrina.
