You might even see the park's most bizarre resident, known as the Wolfman. Loon Mountain Resort operates as a ski and snowboard resort during winter and transforms into an adventure park during the rest of the year. At an elevation of 934 m (3,065 ft), the mountain offers a skiable vertical elevation of 640 m (2,100 ft) and 61 ski runs, plus eight different glade runs through the trees. Take your skills to the next level in one of several snow parks, or try the halfpipe or superpipe. You'll have a chance to try winter ziplining, snowshoeing, skating, or cross country skiing. During the rest of the year, take the gondola to the top for a scenic view of the surrounding area, enjoy a Segway tour, or explore glacial caves. You can also play in the trees in the aerial forest adventure park, where there are ropes courses and ladder challenges to conquer.

A two-lane highway that attracts drivers for its seasonal colors, Kancamagus Highway runs through White Mountain National Forest. The route follows the river valley up the Kancamagus Pass, offering sporadic stops for photographers. The road meets with Interstate 93 and four other smaller highways that lead to larger cities. You'll find refreshments and gas stops located around these intersections.

In White Mountain National Forest, look for Diana's Baths, a 23 m (75 ft) long cascade of pools and waterfalls. Historically used to power mills and a dam with turbines, the falls became attractive to tourists. Today the area is a destination suitable for families, where you can explore the rocks, ledges, cascading falls, and pools. Water levels vary according to season and rainfall; you can wade through areas when water levels are low. Pets are welcome. To get there, you'll need to take a short 1 km (0.6 mi) trail to the base of the falls along a fairly flat gravel path.
