1. Dutch Wonderland, Lancaster

The imitation stone facade of Dutch Wonderland was built by a potato farmer in 1963. The park has 34 rides and Duke's Lagoon water park, as well as shows and games for children. For a glimpse of the past, visit Exploration Island, which is home to 15 early animatronic dinosaurs that growl and bow as you walk the Prehistoric Path.

What began as a home business in a two-car garage has grown into Kitchen Kettle Village. The village experience includes a series of 40 boutiques that sell local, handcrafted goods. You'll discover that each shop is locally owned and sells locally made wares including food items, leather goods, furniture, and clothing. You'll even find a carriage ride service. However, the Pennsylvania Dutch attraction has its origins in old-fashioned home cooking, and the Canning Kitchen restaurant and cafe serves treats from the pantry.
