8. Makapu'u Point, Oahu

Climb to the easternmost point of the island of Oahu to enjoy the spectacular views from Makapu'u Point. This rocky peak serves as the finish line for many hiking trails and is home to Makapu'u Point Light, a 1909 lighthouse boasting one of the world's largest Fresnel lenses. The perch offers panoramic vistas of the bays on either side, where the waves crash against the rocky cliffs. The rough waves below make for great surfing conditions; alternatively, look out for whales in the surrounding waters. Be aware that the hike out to the point is difficult, and for experienced hikers only.
