Conservatoria trip planner

A small town of 4,000 close to Valenca, Conservatoria enjoys a level of cultural interest disproportionate to its modest size. Its name likely refers to a reputation as a "conservatory of the Indians"--a place popular with the native population because of its good climate and protected location in the mountains. As a colonial hub in the production of coffee, Conservatoria experienced a boom period, evidenced today in its fine colonial buildings. While much of the town's wealth has been lost with rural migration, tourism in Conservatoria has in a sense preserved the traditions from the colonial period; most memorable are evening serenades of romantic music in the moonlight.
