Although officially a separate city, North Vancouver is actually a suburban area of Vancouver on the north shore of Burrard Inlet, a shallow-sided fjord. The waterfront municipality boasts a thriving economy of its own, with shipping and film/TV production among its chief industries. Begin your tour of North Vancouver by crossing one of two highway bridges, or by taking a passenger ferry, a good way to take in the coastal sights and get a feel for this thriving urban area. The city offers a network of bike paths, several theaters, museums, shops, and waterfront parks. North Vancouver also provides quick and easy access to Grouse Mountain. where you can hike, ski, skate, observe native wildlife, take helicopter tours, and attend lumberjack shows. Where to stay in North Vancouver

Often overshadowed by its larger and more famous southern neighbor, North Vancouver offers relatively little by way of accommodations. Your best bet is to look towards the shore, along Esplanade Avenue and the streets directly behind, where you'll find a few hotels offering views over the pier. Stay west of the center, along Capilano Road, for easy access to the Capilano River and surrounding parks. You can also consider staying in Vancouver proper and take public transport across the harbor.
