The Wine Capital of the Burgundy region in the Côte-d'Or department, Beaune is a walled city with features remaining from the pre-Roman and Roman eras in eastern France. Although the city is not primarily a tourist town but one centered on the wine industry, its natural beauty, historically intact old town, and the Burgundy wines attract a large number of tourists.
