History Museums · Specialty Museums · Dolphin & Whale Watching
Best known for the surrounding natural scenery, Norland features a landscape of steep mountains near the sea and flat lowlands. Heavily reliant on tourism, the county also boasts thriving fishing and offshore petroleum industries. Norland possesses one of the least polluted coastal areas in Europe and offers easy access to the World Heritage-listed archipelago of over 6,000 islands, which are recognized for preserving the simple and sustainable way of life practiced by Norway's fishermen for over a thousand years. The county also serves as the gateway for the famous Lofoten Islands, known for their picture-perfect fishing villages, deep fjords, and tall peaks. With our world travel planner, Norway vacations can be built around trips to Nordland and other destinations in Norway.
