Islamabad

Sacred & Religious Sites · Lookouts · Specialty Museums
The country's capital since 1963, Islamabad has the look and feel of a planned administrative city because, by and large, that's exactly what it is. The wide, tree-lined boulevards house a number of governmental buildings, with the architecture purposefully grand and imposing, and the whole city fitting together in a grid system. Financial and commercial districts have grown since its establishment, adding some nightlife to proceedings. However, visits to Islamabad are made primarily in search of a little peace and quiet, and to arrange onward travel. Where to stay in Islamabad

Islamabad has plenty of accommodations, particularly hotels and guesthouses, to choose from. Look in Blue Area for the bulk of options. With the streets here so spread-out, wide, tree-lined, and new, the hotels tend to follow suit by being luxurious and spacious, although some exceptions can be found. Taking the form of guesthouses, budget-friendly options in town sit on the side streets, particularly around the College Road and School Road areas.
