City of Saints
Well-fortified due to its strategic location in the past, Multan has a number of impressive historic gates. Sightseeing in Multan usually includes a visit to the ruins of a historic fort, a scenic boat ride along the Chenab River, and visits to citrus and mango farms. Admire the city's famous local tiles at the museum (which also sells them as souvenirs), and head to the bazaars to browse handicrafts and local sweets. Sufi saint shrines and numerous Hindu temples round out the attractions in Multan, a melting pot at the crossroads of cultures and trade routes. Our expert advice on where to stay in Multan

While Multan offers a range of accommodations, as of March 2015, foreigners are not allowed to stay in budget hotels--always verify when making a reservation. A number of international chains concentrate in the western part of town, but Multan also offers budget and uptown room and board options. Guest houses, bed and breakfasts, and budget inns lie in the Altaf Town neighborhood along Tariq Road.
