    Civil war has ravaged the infrastructure of Mogadishu, rendering tourist accommodations practically nonexistent. The government has made efforts to stabilize the situation, but assaults on foreigners remain common even in hotels, let alone in the streets. Visiting the city is strongly discouraged, but if you happen to be here do not wander alone. Hire professional bodyguards, travel in protected vehicles, and exercise extreme caution, as the number of deaths and abductions of foreigners is ever-increasing.
