Gangneung

4
Beaches · Specialty Museums · Historic Sites
A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea. This has allowed the city to retain aspects of its distinct culture, in a number of festivals and in the distinctive architectural style of the well-preserved buildings. Trips to Gangneung offer the chance explore the local culture through visits to museums, temples, and shopping streets, and to lap up the scenery down by the coast, where the sandy beaches offer extensive views of dramatic sunsets.
