Museum Without Walls
One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery. Explore a World Heritage-listed historic area packed with rock carvings, tumuli, temples, and pagodas, then visit a history museum and a folk village to shop for authentic handicrafts. Gyeongju vacations can also take advantage of the pine-forested long beach with a seawater spa. Scenic hills just five minutes away from downtown offer pleasant hiking, with numerous Buddhist stone carvings and shrines en route. The city also has a large water park and lots of public and private sport facilities for entertainment and recreation in all seasons. Shilla craftwork and a variety of traditional dishes add to the color of this well-visited spot. Add Gyeongju and other destinations to your itinerary using our South Korea tour itinerary site, and learn about what to see, what to do, and where to stay.

Where to stay in Gyeongju

With 6 million tourists per year, Gyeongju offers a wide range of accommodations. The area around the Bomun Lake resort has several luxury hotels catering to the needs of Korean tour groups. More moderately priced hotels lie in the downtown area, notably in Nodong-Dong and Noseo-Dong quarters. Near the train station, you can find inexpensive guesthouses (yeoinsuk), motels, and hostels. Family-oriented mid-range hotels tend to cluster just east from the lake, but the tourist-friendly city has accommodations well distributed throughout.
