With roots tracing back to the Bronze Age, traditional Brienz gives the impression of being lost in time.     A stay in Brienz is best spent lakeside, where you'll find a number of modestly priced hotels near the glittering waters. If you're willing to trade the view for some savings, look to the hostels a bit further inland. Experience local woodcarving masterpieces first-hand with a stay at a bed and breakfast or guesthouse built in the traditional architecture style.
