Located in Thailand's Tenasserim Hills, Erawan National Park features 550 sq km (212 sq mi) of thick forest. The main attraction in Erawan National Park is a spectacular seven-tiered waterfall and its swimmable pools. The top tier of the falls resembles the three-headed white elephant from Hindu mythology, Erawan, from which the park's name derives. Elsewhere, limestone caves hide gnarled rock formations. The wildlife prowling the jungle includes tigers, deer, gibbons, elephants, and giant flying squirrels, but you won't likely see these close to the waterfall area.
