Cesme

3
Beaches · Nightlife · Outdoor Activities
The ancient coastal town of Cesme has managed to preserve its natural beauty, even after many years as one of the most popular beach resorts in Turkey's Aegean Region. The name of the town, which means "fountain," refers to the historic Ottoman fountains placed throughout its neighborhoods. Explore the intersection of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman style here with visits to its cultural and historical sights, including the famous Cesme Castle. Then, be sure to hit the beach, where windsurfing is a popular pastime. Cesma is also a great hub for exploring the rest of the peninsula and the nearby Greek island of Chios. Find what you're looking for from your Cesme holiday, by planning the whole thing with us using our handy Turkey vacation maker tool.

Where to stay in Cesme

At the hub of Çeşme sits the Old Town and large marina, where you'll find everything from car rentals, travel agencies, restaurants, and cafes. Here you'll trade the convenience and commotion of the city for beach access. A number of reasonably priced independent hotels surround the marina, while a handful of three- and four-star hotels on the peninsula of Dalyan put you in proximity to seafood restaurants and pristine swimming. To get to and from the Old Town, you'll have to rely on the services of your concierge. The neighboring town of Ilıca to the east offers a long stretch of sandy beaches, dotted by luxurious four-star hotels and resorts for those looking to indulge, including a couple of international chains. South of Ilıca the newer development of Alaçati Bay is slightly more expensive in its accommodations than the Old Town, but it's a windsurfer's paradise. The Old Town, Ilıca, and Alaçati Bay all have a handful of guesthouses for the budget-conscious; Dalyan is home to the one hostel in the area.
