A Red Rock Wonderland
Mother Nature kept reaching for red when she painted Arches National Park's 2,000 sandstone arches, resulting in one of the country's more distinctly shaped and colored landscapes. While the arches give the park its name, other prominent features such as towering monoliths, spires, giant balanced rocks, and sandstone fins cover this swath of eastern Utah desert. Because rock does not hold footprints, exploring the park can give the sense that you're crossing virgin territory. At 30,901 hectares (76,359 acres), Arches is a relatively small national park. The park's numerous short hiking trails let you explore its attractions for yourself. Where to stay in Arches National Park

Arches National Park provides camping at the Devils Garden Campground, but most visitors opt to stay in the town of Moab south of the park. You'll find every type of accommodation here, including economy motels, small inns with a rustic Southwest vibe, bed and breakfasts, lodges, and campgrounds. Moab's economy largely revolves around park visitors, so you'll find plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and various services here. A few publicly operated campgrounds line Route 128 on the park's eastern edge, and a few more accommodations sit on Route 191 off the park's western border.
