Manteo is a town in Dare County, North Carolina, United States, located on Roanoke Island. The population was 1,434 at the 2010 census. The racial makeup of the town was 84.7% White, 8.4% African American, 0.8% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 2.6% from other races, and 3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 9% of the population.
