Where to stay in Salem

Catering to travelers stopping overnight en route to other destinations, a cluster of accommodations lines Route 5, which runs through the eastern suburbs of the city. These options consist mainly of chain motels and inns, which offer comfortable rooms and a free breakfast, but not much in the way of character. Accommodations in central Salem are few and far between, although you can find a mid-range hotel and a handful of bed and breakfasts along State Street.
