Nearby are the tiny town of Ridge and Point Lookout beach, the former site of an American Civil War prison camp.Notable residentsIt is the birthplace and childhood home of Orlando "Tubby" Smith, the men's basketball coach of the Memphis Tigers and former coach of Texas Tech, University of Minnesota and the University of Kentucky.
