Lake George — 4 nights

Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Venture out of the city with trips to Ticonderoga (Fort Ticonderoga & Star Trek Original Series Set Tour), Howe Caverns (in Howes Cave) and Natural Stone Bridge and Caves (in Pottersville). There's lots more to do: get interesting insight from Tours, stroll around Rogers Memorial Park, get engrossed in the history at Fort William Henry Museum, and make a splash at The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor.

For ratings, where to stay, maps, and more tourist information, go to the Lake George trip planner.
