In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.

Visiting Waikiki Beach and Makapuu Lighthouse Trail will get you outdoors. Get a sense of the local culture at USS Arizona Memorial and National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Get out of town with these interesting Honolulu side-trips: Kailua (Lanikai Beach & Kailua Beach Park) and Ko Olina Lagoons (in Ko Olina). The adventure continues: trek along Koko Crater Railway Trail, kick back and relax at Kapiolani Regional Park, stop by Crack Seed Store, and contemplate the waterfront views at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve.

Newark to Honolulu is an approximately 11-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time is minus 5 hours. Expect much hotter temperatures when traveling from Newark in November; daily highs in Honolulu reach 84°F and lows reach 72°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 18th (Fri) to allow time for the car ride to Hauula.

Hauula is a census-designated place and rural community in the Koolauloa District on the island of Oahu, City & County of Honolulu. Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sat): view the masterpieces at Haleiwa Art Gallery, then enjoy the sand and surf at Sunset Beach Park, and then make a trip to Polynesian Cultural Center.

Traveling by car from Honolulu to Hauula takes an hour. Traveling from Honolulu in November, expect Hauula to be a bit cooler, temps between 78°F and 66°F. On the 20th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
