Hilton Head — 3 nights

Visit St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church and Beaufort National Cemetery for their historical value. Take a break from the city and head to Dolphin & Whale Watching and Hilton Head Island Bike Trails. Step out of Hilton Head to go to Beaufort and see The Point, which is approximately 58 minutes away. There's lots more to do: stroll through Coligny Beach, take in the architecture and atmosphere at The Church of the Cross, visit a coastal fixture at Harbour Town Lighthouse and Museum, and stop by Mingles.

Getting from Charleston to Hilton Head by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Hilton Head can reach 74°F, while at night they dip to 59°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Thu) so you can go by car to Myrtle Beach.
