Nice — 3 nights

Nissa la Bella (Nice the Beautiful)

Well-known for the beautiful views of its famous Promenade des Anglais waterfront, Nice is an ethnically-diverse coastal port city on the French Riviera and the fifth most populated city in France.
Venture out of the city with trips to Cannes (Rue d'Antibes & La Croisette). The adventure continues: wander the streets of Old Town, test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, examine the collection at Musée Marc Chagall, and sample the tasty concoctions at La Brasserie Artisanale de Nice.

Copenhagen, Denmark to Nice is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Copenhagen in July: high temperatures in Nice hover around 32°C and lows are around 25°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Thu) so you can drive to Saint-Raphael.

Avignon — 2 nights

An ancient town center surrounded by medieval ramparts, Avignon is a major city of Provence and a Mediterranean city in the Vaucluse department on the left bank of the Rhône River.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Sat): snap pictures at Pont du Gard, do a tasting at Chateau de la Gardine, then sample the fine beverages at Distillerie A. Blachere, then take in the views from Pont d'Avignon, and finally step into the grandiose world of Palais des Papes. On your second day here, take in the spiritual surroundings of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Senanque, trek along Le Sentier des Ocres, and then admire the masterpieces at Carrieres des Lumieres.

Medieval Heart of France

Best known as a fortified town, Carcassonne is a walled city that provided the inspiration for the castle in Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" and the location for many scenes in Kevin Costner's movie "Robin Hood." For a daily dose of excitement, medieval jousting tournaments are held twice per day between the two walls--while this may sound like a typical touristy show, it's actually an entertaining display of combative competition and horsemanship.
Kick off your visit on the 31st (Mon): explore the activities along Lac de Cavayere, then steep yourself in history at Cathar Castles, then get to know the fascinating history of Cité de Carcassonne, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Eglise Saint-Vincent de Carcassonne.

Sarlat-la-Caneda — 2 nights

Medieval Capital of the Dordogne Valley

Sarlat-la-Caneda is the capital of the former Périgord Noir, now referred to as the Aquitaine region that is home to a historical area consisting of impeccably preserved 14th-century buildings and sites.
On the 1st (Tue), walk around Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, then step into the grandiose world of Chateau de Castelnaud, and then don't miss a visit to Chateau des Milandes. Keep things going the next day: make a trip to Vieux Sarlat and then explore the historical opulence of Chateau de Beynac.
