The heart of Tatar culture, Kazan carries the epithet of the "Third Capital of Russia" because of its rich history and thriving economy.

Get some historical perspective at Sviyazhskiy Holy Dormition Monastery and Holy Trinity Church. Discover out-of-the-way places like Island Sviyazhsk Museum and Museum "Tatarskaya Sloboda". Get out of town with these interesting Kazan side-trips: Ski Complex Kazan (in Savino), Sviyazhsk (Ioanno-Predtechenskiy Monastyr, Cathedral of the Icon of the Mother of All Who Sorrow, &more) and Raifa (Cathedral of the Georgian Icon of Our Lady, Raifa Lake, &more). In July, plan for daily highs up to 29°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Thu) so you can travel to Kazan.

Start off your visit on the 26th (Fri): make a trip to The Temple in Honor of Saints Constantine and His Mother Helena, pause for some serene contemplation at Holy Ascension Macarius Monastery, browse the different shops at Mega, then perfect your strike at Korston-Kazan, and finally make a trip to Kasan Nury Mosque.
