Conch Republic

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Kids will enjoy The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum and Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. Take a break from the city and head to Waterskiing & Jetskiing and Vandenberg Wreck. There's lots more to do: observe the fascinating underwater world at Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, go for a walk through Key West Garden Club, and take an in-depth tour of Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum.

Chicago to Key West is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Chicago to Key West due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Chicago in June, things will get somewhat warmer in Key West: highs are around 88°F and lows about 79°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Marathon.

Heart of the Florida Keys

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Bahia Honda State Park and Sombrero Beach. Visiting Dolphin Research Center and Scuba & Snorkeling will get you outdoors. There's lots more to do: see the vivid underwater world at Sombrero Reef, browse the exhibits of Crane Point Museum & Nature Center, immerse yourself in nature at Curry Hammock State Park, and look for all kinds of wild species at Coffins Patch.

Getting from Key West to Marathon by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In June in Marathon, expect temperatures between 90°F during the day and 79°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Sat) so you can drive to Key Largo.

The northernmost island of the Florida Keys, Key Largo provides stunning scenery, a number of watersports opportunities, and plenty of areas to relax on vacation.

Fort Pierce is a city in and the county seat of St. We've included these beaches for you: Sebastian Inlet State Park and Bathtub Reef Beach. Get in touch with nature at Loggerhead Marinelife Center and Maritime Hammock Sanctuary. When in Fort Pierce, make a side trip to see Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum in Jupiter, approximately Jupiter away. And it doesn't end there: learn about all things military at Navy Seal Museum, identify plant and animal life at Shark Bait Beach Gear Rentals, and admire the masterpieces at VBMA-Vero Beach Museum of Art.

Traveling by flight from Key Largo to Fort Pierce takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Expect a daytime high around 89°F in June, and nighttime lows around 72°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Fri) early enough to catch the flight back home.
