Vik — 2 nights

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Mon): trot along with a tour on horseback, take an in-depth tour of Skogar Museum, explore the striking landscape at Sólheimajökulll, then take in the dramatic natural features at Mýrdalsjökull, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Skogafoss. Keep things going the next day: pause for some photo ops at Voyages Friendship Statue, enjoy the sand and surf at Black Sand Beach, kick back and relax at Reynisfjara Beach, take in the spiritual surroundings of Reyniskirkja Church, then take in the dramatic natural features at Reynisdrangar, and finally take in a show at Lava Show.

You can drive from Snaefellsbaer to Vik in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. In October, plan for daily highs up to 8°C, and evening lows to 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Tue) to allow time to drive to Reykjavik.
