Honolulu — 4 nights

Big Pineapple

In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Step out of the city life by going to Waikiki Beach and Ala Moana Beach Park. Explore hidden gems such as Koko Crater Railway Trail and Manoa Falls. There's still lots to do: explore the different monuments and memorials at USS Arizona Memorial, enjoy the sand and surf at Kaimana Beach, steep yourself in history at Queen Emma Summer Palace, and go for a walk through Diamond Head State Monument.

To see other places to visit, maps, reviews, and tourist information, go to the Honolulu journey planner.

Boston to Honolulu is an approximately 11-hour flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Boston to Honolulu is minus 5 hours. Traveling from Boston in April, expect Honolulu to be warmer, temps between 83°F and 71°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 9th (Fri) to allow time for the car ride to Hauula.

The Gathering Place
A top cultural and vacation destination within the Hawaiian Islands, Oahu is home to over 85 percent of the state's population. Aptly nicknamed the "Gathering Place," the island is truly at the heart of Hawaii, featuring the busy city of Honolulu and its surrounding districts. Visitors to Oahu can enjoy all the modern conveniences of a large city, while remaining within walking distance of secluded beaches, picturesque parks, high mountain peaks, and quaint little towns. To experience the laid-back side of Hawaii, take a trip away from the tourist hotspot of Waikiki, the island's most crowded neighborhood.
