12 days in Taichung & Taipei Itinerary

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Taichung: Yuchi (Sun Moon Lake & Wenwumiaohoushan Park) and Ren'ai Township (Cingjing Veterans Farm & Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area). There's lots more to do: identify plant and animal life at Gaomei Wetland, make a trip to Tunghai University, take in the spiritual surroundings of Pusasi, and grab your bike and head to HouFeng Bikeway.

If you are flying in from Singapore, the closest major aiports are Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taichung International Airport / Ching Chuang Kang Air Base and Taipei Songshan Airport. In April in Taichung, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 21°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Thu) early enough to catch the train to Taipei.

Venture out of the city with trips to Shifen Old Street (in Pingxi), YehLiu Geopark (in Wanli) and Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) (in Ruifang). Spend the 30th (Sun) exploring nature at Yangmingshan National Park. The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at National Palace Museum, learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Taipei Zoo, wander the streets of Ximending, and don't miss a visit to Elephant Mountain (aka Nangang District Hiking Trail).

Getting from Taichung to Taipei by train takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Taipei can reach 30°C, while at night they dip to 22°C.
