The Birthplace of Democracy

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Temple of Hephaestus and Anafiotika. Get some cultural insight at Archaeological Site Mycenae and Lion Gate. When in Athens, make a side trip to see Land Gate in Nafplio, approximately Nafplio away. There's still lots to do: get to know the fascinating history of Philopappos Hill, explore the ancient world of Erechtheion, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Lycabettus, and steep yourself in history at Ancient Agora of Athens.

Dublin, Ireland to Athens is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Greenwich Mean Time to Eastern European Standard Time, which is usually a 2 hour difference. Traveling from Dublin in June, expect Athens to be much hotter, temps between 35°C and 24°C. On the 22nd (Thu), you're off to Aegina.
